Terms and Conditions

Effective date: October 29, 2026
Business: Friendswood Handyman
Service area: Friendswood, Alvin, Manvel, Pearland, and Webster, Texas

Important: This template is a starting point, not legal advice. Have a qualified Texas attorney review it before you publish or use it, especially the liability, warranty, payment, and dispute provisions.

1. Agreement

These Terms and Conditions govern requests for quotes and handyman services provided by Friendswood Handyman ("Friendswood Handyman," "we," "us," or "our"). By requesting a quote, scheduling work, approving an estimate, or allowing work to begin, the customer ("you" or "your") agrees to these Terms and Conditions.

If a written estimate, work order, or service agreement conflicts with these Terms and Conditions, the written estimate or work order controls only for the specific service, price, materials, or timing addressed in it.

2. Services and service area

We provide handyman and related home-improvement services in Friendswood, Alvin, Manvel, Pearland, and Webster, Texas. The exact work, materials, price, and expected timing will be described in the applicable quote, estimate, or work order.

We may decline work that is unsafe, outside our capabilities, requires a license or permit we do not hold, requires specialized trade work, or cannot reasonably be performed at the property.

3. Quotes and approvals

Quotes are based on the information available when prepared. A quote may change if conditions are discovered that were not visible or disclosed, if the requested scope changes, if material prices change, or if additional labor or equipment becomes necessary.

We will seek your approval before performing work outside the approved scope when reasonably practical. You agree to provide accurate information about the property and the requested work, including known damage, hazards, utilities, access restrictions, prior repairs, and relevant building or association requirements.

A quote is not a guarantee that the work can be completed for the quoted amount if concealed or changed conditions affect the scope.

4. Scheduling, access, and customer obligations

You agree to:

  • Provide safe and timely access to the work area.

  • Remove or protect personal belongings near the work area unless otherwise agreed.

  • Identify known electrical, plumbing, structural, pest, mold, asbestos, lead, or other hazards.

  • Make sure an authorized adult is available when access, approvals, or decisions are needed.

  • Obtain approvals from a landlord, homeowners association, property manager, or other responsible party when required.

  • Keep children, pets, and other people away from active work areas.

  • Avoid directing, changing, or interfering with the work after the scope is approved without discussing the change with us.

Delays caused by unsafe conditions, lack of access, missing approvals, customer-requested changes, unavailable materials, weather, or conditions outside our reasonable control may affect the schedule and price.

5. Payment

Customers request a quote before work begins and pay after the completed work or agreed milestone, unless the written estimate or work order states otherwise. Payment is due according to the invoice or written payment terms provided for the job.

You agree to pay approved charges for labor, materials, equipment, permits, disposal, and authorized changes. If payment is late, we may pause further work, decline additional services, and pursue lawful collection remedies. Any late fee or collection charge must be stated in the applicable written estimate or invoice and may not exceed what applicable law allows.

Business owner: complete before publishing: specify accepted payment methods, the payment due date, and any late-fee amount or percentage.

6. Changes and additional work

Requests to add, remove, or change work may change the price and schedule. We may require written approval before beginning additional work. Work required because of concealed conditions will be treated as additional work when it is outside the approved scope.

7. Materials and customer-supplied items

Unless otherwise agreed, we may select reasonably suitable materials for the approved work. Customer-supplied materials or products are used at your direction and risk. We are not responsible for defects, incompatibility, missing parts, manufacturer defects, or installation limitations in customer-supplied items, except to the extent caused by our negligent installation.

8. Workmanship warranty

We will perform approved services in a reasonably workmanlike manner. Any additional workmanship warranty applies only if it is stated in writing in the estimate, work order, or invoice.

A warranty does not cover normal wear, misuse, lack of maintenance, customer-supplied materials, pre-existing conditions, damage caused by another person, movement or settling of the property, water intrusion, pests, weather, or changes made after our work is completed.

To request warranty service, notify us in writing within [insert warranty period] after completion and describe the issue. We must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, correct covered workmanship issues before another contractor performs corrective work.

9. Property damage and liability

You must tell us about known hazards and fragile, valuable, or vulnerable property before work begins. We will take reasonable care of the work area, but we are not responsible for pre-existing damage, concealed conditions, ordinary dust or disruption from the work, damage caused by unsafe conditions you did not disclose, or damage caused by your instructions, another contractor, a tenant, guest, pet, or other third party.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our liability for a claim arising from a service is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability caused by gross negligence, willful misconduct, or other non-waivable conduct.

You agree to notify us promptly of any alleged damage or defect and give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and respond before arranging repairs by another provider, except when immediate action is reasonably necessary to prevent further damage.

10. Permits and specialized work

You are responsible for disclosing permit, inspection, landlord, association, or property-management requirements unless the written agreement expressly assigns a specific responsibility to us. We may refuse or stop work that requires specialized licensing, engineering, architectural services, or other professional services outside the agreed scope.

11. Cancellation and rescheduling

Business owner: complete before publishing: insert the cancellation notice period, any cancellation or no-show charge, and the process for rescheduling.

If you cancel, reschedule, or are unavailable for a scheduled appointment, you may be responsible for approved materials, nonrefundable costs, travel, or a cancellation charge stated in the estimate or work order.

12. Disputes and good-faith resolution

If you believe there is a problem with the service, contact us promptly with the invoice or job details, a description of the issue, and photographs or other useful information. Both parties agree to make a good-faith effort to resolve the issue informally before filing a claim.

If informal resolution is unsuccessful, the parties may agree to mediation before pursuing litigation. Any lawsuit or legal proceeding must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in [insert Texas county], unless applicable law requires a different venue.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

13. Website and communications

Information on our website is general information and is not a substitute for an in-person inspection or written quote. Electronic communications, including quote requests submitted through the website, may be used to communicate about requested services, scheduling, estimates, invoices, and the job.

14. No waiver and severability

If we do not enforce a provision immediately, that does not waive our right to enforce it later. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective to the extent permitted by law.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect when you approve a quote or service controls that transaction, unless the parties agree otherwise in writing.
